About Me

My interest in equine dentistry began with my first horse, Bobby, an older chestnut gelding (pictured left).

He had interesting teeth to say the least - when I got him, his incisors were so long he looked like Bugs Bunny, and there were gaps between them all.

Over the last few years of his life, he had a few extractions including an incisor and three molars as they were either expiring or decayed. For a horse with plenty of gaps in his mouth he never really had trouble keeping weight on!

Being involved in his dentistry got me interested in learning more about dental treatment for horses and how it can improve their performance and general well-being.

Prior to becoming an equine dentist, I trained as a veterinary nurse. After I completed my Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DVN) I worked in a mixed animal practice, and then worked as a surgical nurse at a specialist veterinary clinic.

Alongside this I began my equine dentistry training, and have studied in Australia as well as working with certified dentists in New Zealand to further my knowledge.

I love seeing how good dentistry can improve a horse and make them happier and more comfortable.

I have three horses, Oscar a six year old dark bay thoroughbred who is turning into a bit of a good all-rounder (although loves jumping, including out of his paddock...), Choc, a black standardbred gelding who loves being the centre of attention, and Ben, a 19 year old brown thoroughbred schoolmaster who is teaching me heaps.
